Having done a bit of poking around on wikipedia:
The person in charge, at least until 1898, seems to be referred to as the Principal Librarian of the British Museum. In our history, this position was held by:
- 1827–1856 Henry Ellis (29 November 1777 – 15 January 1869), although apparently, Panizzi was the de facto administrative head from 1837 on. In the world of the Kerberos Club, the truth might be different.
- 1856–1866 Anthony Panizzi
- 1866–1873 John Winter Jones
- 1873–1888 Edward Augustus Bond
- 1888–1898 Edward Maunde Thompson
