Dear Edgar,

Thank you for your kind letter. The good doctor, as I’m sure you’re already aware, is safe, so little or no harm done. I’m sure you did everything you could, and will continue to do so, and that is all anyone can ask of anyone else. What is past cannot be changed, what is to come cannot be predicted, we have only this moment, this now, in which to live. We can acknowledge the events of the past and make plans for the future, but we can also learn not to dwell on such things. Regret and fear, nostalgia and expectation all distract us from living in the moment. I hope you will find some comfort in that.

I was able to say “hello” for you to the other person you mentioned. He returns the sentiment, and wishes you well. He has gone through quite a lot, but I think he has found a centered place, and a measure of peace. Would that we could all be so lucky.

I hope I will speak to you again soon.

Warmest Regards,

Lillian
