Background

At some point in the past, cats were uplifted to human-like intelligence. According to the cats, they proceeded to uplift at least a few self-sustaining populations of everything else. All shapes and sizes are sentient, not simply the evolved apes.

The government is egalitarian in attitude and policy; it is a representative democracy using single transferable votes to seat representatives for each region. Cats, nonetheless, form the majority in the representative body, as - unlike some who have been uplifted - they are not often species-favoring in their policy.

Green Sun citizens have been kidnapped and forced into slavery by Galliard expeditions in the past; this remains one of several differences between the two systems. However, with the technology and resource differential, Green Sun has mostly engaged in conflict-by-proxy to fight Galliard. For example, Green Sun has "secretly" supported Galliard opposition factors in resource-rich Old Terra.

At great expense, the massive rotation wheel Station One holds geosynchronous orbit around the main world, acting as the system's main orbital trade hub and interstellar contact point. Its near normal gravity makes it a comfortable destination for its multispecies residents and travelers. Additionally, bristling with communication, logistic, maintenance, torpedo, and command & control facilities, Station One acts as the homeworld's primary - or, depending on perspective, last - line of defense.

Aspects

  • Cats in charge
  • Intelligence comes in many shapes
  • Aggressively egalitarian
