Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat is a Jewish teenage genius from Chicago whose parents just divorced and whose first boyfriend (Colossus) might just have dumped her because he fell in love with a woman on an alien planet who then died. She’s just buried the axe with her age peers at the mansion, the New Mutants, with whom she had maintained an adversarial relationship. Her computer hacking partner Doug Ramsey may have a crush on her. Her best friend is Peter's syster, Ilyana.
