Shine Arcadian
Growing Up
With a cat and raven paired heads of household, Shine's family was one of the typically multi-species pairings found on Green Sun. Even if human space finds it strange or hated, it defied those prejudices by being an otherwise pretty ordinary childhood.

- Sentient raven
Starting Out
School was fascinating for Shine. There were no restrictions on what a student could learn, if they passed aptitude exams. And Shine wanted to learn EVERYTHING. In so doing, the Academy administrators guided Shine towards training in Green Sun's interstellar diplomatic corps, as a social need that they hoped Shine could fulfill in the future.

- Secretly trained as a diplomat
Moment of Crisis
It was near the end of Shine last term in the Academy, that as assignment posting as a second to an archaeological dig on Old Terra was made available. Surprisingly, the hopes of the owl in charge - Akea Magnum - played out: A major find, the Manacle Codex, a jewel-encrusted, ancient Old Terran storybook was unearthed. Akea wanted it smuggled back to Green Sun in its personal stash; with Graf Linus von Schultz's help, Shine made sure it would be transferred to the proper authorities on Old Terra, so it would eventually be displayed in a museum.
- Knowledge is meant to be shared, not hidden
- People are people no matter their shape
Sidetracked
Following the expedition, Shine was officially graduate from the Academy with honors - one of the longest educated students in the system was out of it. Wandering a few days, wondering what to do, Shine came across a human in obvious distress: Othis Balpiene. The down-on-his-luck Hammerheadian was under going some sort of crisis. Company, a lot of drinking, and careful navigation of Green Sun's healthcare system (by getting him qualified by getting him offered a temporary job at the Academy) seemed to help Othis a great deal. Shine felt pretty good about that.
