Faerie and the Dead

• Faeries can make humans and animals waste away
• They can take folk at the borders of things, including the borders between life and death
• Humans and animals who sicken may be working hard in the faerie realm
• The Twelve Dancing Princesses were compelled to enter the fairylands each night and dance until they returned at dawn. This is why they were so weary during the day.
• The fae can be compelled to return one they have taken, or bargained with to do so. But such are not truly dead. The fae cannot restore the dead to life.
• Sometimes, one who is taken has been replaced by a poor creation of sticks and suchlike. This creature appears to die and is buried. But, there is no human corpse, only the diverse parts used to create the semblance of the one taken. This one may be restored to the world because the person is not truly dead.
• One taken and held for a time may return to find many years have passed in what seemed but a single night.
