Mrs. Hillary Quarrie's 1st Letter to Vito
Dear Mr. de Genarra,
Do try to remember that I do not live in Wales, but in the west of England. If you go to Wales, you will find neither my farm nor me. Whether or not you will find gods there is, of course, a different question.
I don't suppose you might give me some idea of when you expect to find yourself back in England or with whom, or at least, how many, but if you could let me know before you all arrive at my door, it would be easier to make sure that there is enough tea for everyone.
For someone who has no room for gods, you are certainly going out of your way to walk in their lands. Desert gods are often known for being harsh. So is the desert itself. If you are not careful, you will not need to worry about any gods; the heat alone can kill you.
I'll look for you if you survive.
Mrs. Hillary Quarrie
